Looking to the future

After this year’s Pastor’s conference was over and the last pastor’s family boarded the train for home, the team from the US drove out of town to the 8-acre parcel of land that we own in the foothills of the mountains. We have built a small office and a storeroom for the rice and peanuts that we grow on the property. It was time to reflect on all that the Lord has done in the past 15 years. From small beginnings He has grown the India Connection into a thriving organization that is having an impact across the country. Lord...

A Movement of the Holy Spirit

Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! Psalm 133:1 November was a time for the shepherds to gather together in India. Taking advantage of the national Diwali holiday, pastors and their families travelled from around the country to participate in two conferences, our annual Pastor’s Family Conference and the first-ever Koinonia School of Ministry Alumni Conference. Please pray that the Lord would continue to knit our hearts together and unite us to accomplish His purposes, not by might, not by power, but by His Spirit. Alumni Conference: Stir Up the Gift of God Fifteen graduates of KSOM returned to Pune to attend the Alumni Conference. In all, 35 young men and women have graduated, and they are all actively serving the Lord. This was a time of fellowship as the pastors and their young families reunited with college classmates, worshipped the Lord and deepened their knowledge of ministry issues. The theme of the conference was 2 Timothy 1:6, “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” One of the primary missions of the India Connection ministry is to provide ongoing support of these young harvest workers. Their needs are many as they face challenges of starting ministries, often in remote areas with limited resources. Pastor Joseph visits each of the pastors...

We have work to do!

By Ben Hiwale In the airplane on the way to India, I had some time to reflect on the India Connection ministry and prepare both a prayer list and task list for my time there. When I reviewed the two lists just before landing, I realized that they were completely redundant; everything on my to-do list was also a prayer request! Let me share some of my experiences with you, and let you know how you can pray for the work that God is doing in India. Pastor Joseph is fond of telling us on these mission trips to...

Breakthrough!

Because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. 1 Cor. 16:9 Had Paul just said, “a great door for effective work has opened to me” and stopped, we would have every cause to jump and shout. However, notice how he continues: “and there are many adversaries.” The door was opened, and it was not an ordinary door. It was a breakthrough moment. The moment the enemies saw that the door was opened, they showed up to close it, hindering Paul from going through it. We are at the edge of breakthrough – are you going to cross over? We have all struggled to get to this point – will we follow the Holy Spirit into our destiny, or will we hold back and just test the waters? As Christians we are called to surrender to God, to trust Him to direct our paths, and to submit to His lead and plans for our lives. But do you ever feel maybe just a little envious of those who get to do whatever they want? To make all their own choices and decisions, and to live just they please? This would seem like such freedom, and after all isn’t freedom what Jesus bought for us at the cross? It can be easy to believe that the commitment to wait on the Lord and...

2012 – A Year in Review

2012 has been another year of tremendous growth and new beginnings for the Koinonia India Ministry. Construction of Pune Center, the future home of the Koinonia School of Ministry (KSOM), is in progress. Men and women continue to be trained to spread the gospel, and we have planted 27 new churches across India. A team of individuals is being developed to lead the India Ministry as the Lord tarries.  I am in awe of what the Lord is doing.  What began by faith is continuing by faith. This year we received accreditation from the Asia Theological Association and can now offer a Degree in Theology that will be recognized across India and across all evangelical denominations. Going forward it seems that the Lord would like us to pray and take steps secured in faith towards developing a “skilled trades” school as part of KSOM.  I want to thank each and every one of you for praying and generously supporting the ministry in India. Would you pray about going to India or becoming an active Ambassador to further the vision of this important work? Would you please pray specifically for: Resources needed to continue construction of Pune Center The team that is being put in place to care for the Girls Home Koinonia School of Ministry – faculty, their families, and students Medical Clinic and the vision for the next...
