Good News from Pune

We have planted 5 new churches in the past couple of months, and a new work has begun among the Sindhi community. Please pray as most of these people are either tribal or part of the over 2000 unreached groups of India. The Girls Home is open. Please continue to pray about being an ambassador, prayer warrior, financial supporter, or any other way the Lord would have you involved. We need saints here in the US to handle the administrative responsibilities of communicating with the team in India so that those who support the girls receive regular updates and information about the Girls Home. Pray for the staff at KSOM, the professors and support staff. This year we are expecting students from Myanmar (Burma). That would make KSOM an international school! It is the Lord, so pray for Him to continue to write the script and for the India Team to follow Him. It is possible that in June 2012 I will be heading to India. As you know we are taking a step of faith to construct the KSOM building in India. Pray for favor with the architects, inflation to remain in check, and guidance in preparing to break ground. We need everyone to pray fervently and earnestly for this step. It is a significant transition in the momentum of the India Ministry. We also need the saints...

Being Rooted and Grounded

India continues to become very secular and materialistic, and increased Western influence has brought additional challenges to a culture that was already in bondage. However, the greatest challenge to these young pastors right now comes from within the body of Christ. The consumer theology of American preaching is now being preached in India. Some so-called “pastors” and “teachers” have decided that it is unreasonable to think that challenges and struggles can be a regular part of God’s plan for people’s lives. In India the airwaves are filled American and western “evangelists” and “preachers” who lay out the formula for success in ministry, which in fact is perverted. Doesn’t Romans 8:29 say we are to be conformed to Christ’s image and not the image of the world, which measures how large particular congregations are, their building, programs, etc.? The Book of Acts tells how the first Christians were persecuted and scattered all over the world. I do not find any references to “name it and claim it”, “have more faith”, or “rebuke the devil”! The foolishness is obvious, but there is an insatiable desire within all of us to be successful, and that wrapped around the Word of God (taken out of context) can quickly turn momentum into a monument. My prayer for you and these men in India is that we never fall prey to this distorted teaching, or...

Making Disciples

We all understand that we are called to be a “witness and disciple”. But when a person begins to witness they go from being a disciple to being a discipler. A disciple is one who minds neither his own business nor anyone else’s business, but looks steadfastly to Jesus and follows Him. How long it takes Jesus to get us identified with Himself depends on us. We cause delays to God by persistently doing things in our own way. Jesus never gets impatient with us; He waits until everything has fallen away and there is nothing left but our identification with Him. A person can become spiritually decrepit because they seek unfounded supernatural inspiration. Be wary of continuously being thrilled, wanting natural experiences of ecstasy and excitement that only lead to disappointment. We are not to wait for something in the future, but we are to be prepared now and realize this is the time. It is easy to talk, easy to have fine thoughts, but none of that means being a disciple. Being a disciple is to be someone who is an endless satisfaction to Jesus at home, church, in the workplace and in the public areas of our lives. Earlier I mentioned that realization of spiritual momentum in the India Ministry does not come without the awareness of battles and adversity that these men face. One of...

Sowing the Seeds

We thank the Lord for the unprecedented growth we have seen in the India Ministry. The early days of Pastor Ray and I making videos in the kitchen and mailing them to a few Indian pastors are still fresh in my mind. Now the ministry has grown to 90 churches, the School of Ministry just graduated its seventh class; we have opened a Medical Clinic and a Girls Home, and are reaching thousands with The God Story, an evangelism and discipleship program. We are seeing God do tremendous things among us, and yet trials, failures, setbacks, and persecution seem also to be operating at its highest level. The only antidote to all this is prayer! We have dedicated this issue to this year’s graduating class of KSOM. As you see these pictures, please pray for these men and the men who have gone before, who are pioneering, planting, evangelizing, and equipping the body of Christ in India. The entire India Connection has God’s fingerprints on it and I am thankful for that. I recall the investments made by many men of God who took a step of faith and traveled to India to help equip men, women, and children in the work of the ministry. As we look at our history over the past 20 years, we see are living in a time like in the Book of Acts....
