Who is Christmas for?

Christmas! Yes, a time to Rejoice! We have it sunk deep into our collective cultural consciousness that Christmas is for the happy people. You know, those with idyllic families enjoying hot chocolate around a stocking-strewn hearth. Christmas is for healthy people who laugh easily and at all the right times, right? The successful and the beautiful, living in suburban bliss. They did not get lost on the way home because of the GPS they got last year. They are beaming after watching a Christmas classic, curled up on the couch with their family in front of their enormous flat-screen....

Why are missions important?

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15 Missions are important because of the Cross of Christ. If we were to choose only one symbol to represent Christianity over the centuries, it would be the cross. The cross has always been at the very center of our faith. At the cross God demonstrated His love for all humanity and provided a way for all to experience the forgiveness of sin. The Apostle John reminds us that Christ “is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins...

Being prepared to be amazed

Trips to India are always very exciting and eventful, as you can imagine. As I prepared to go to India this time, my to-do list included the ninth graduation ceremony of the Koinonia School of Ministry, checking up on the girls at the Girls Home, visiting Dr. Swati at the Koinonia Medical Clinic, meeting with the KSOM faculty, and doing ministry at the Koinonia Fellowship church in Pune. Along the way I hoped to find the time to sit and talk and catch up with my mom and dad and other family members. Because these trips keep me so...

Looking to the future

After this year’s Pastor’s conference was over and the last pastor’s family boarded the train for home, the team from the US drove out of town to the 8-acre parcel of land that we own in the foothills of the mountains. We have built a small office and a storeroom for the rice and peanuts that we grow on the property. It was time to reflect on all that the Lord has done in the past 15 years. From small beginnings He has grown the India Connection into a thriving organization that is having an impact across the country. Lord...

A Movement of the Holy Spirit

Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! Psalm 133:1 November was a time for the shepherds to gather together in India. Taking advantage of the national Diwali holiday, pastors and their families travelled from around the country to participate in two conferences, our annual Pastor’s Family Conference and the first-ever Koinonia School of Ministry Alumni Conference. Please pray that the Lord would continue to knit our hearts together and unite us to accomplish His purposes, not by might, not by power, but by His Spirit. Alumni Conference: Stir Up the Gift of God Fifteen graduates of KSOM returned to Pune to attend the Alumni Conference. In all, 35 young men and women have graduated, and they are all actively serving the Lord. This was a time of fellowship as the pastors and their young families reunited with college classmates, worshipped the Lord and deepened their knowledge of ministry issues. The theme of the conference was 2 Timothy 1:6, “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” One of the primary missions of the India Connection ministry is to provide ongoing support of these young harvest workers. Their needs are many as they face challenges of starting ministries, often in remote areas with limited resources. Pastor Joseph visits each of the pastors...

It Matters

It matters what you believe, what you hope, what you do, what you invest in, and where you go.
